Maurice Sendak, brilliant illustrator and author, most notably of my all time favourite childrens book when I was growing up (and to this day)'Where the Wild Things Are', passed away on May 8th, aged 83.
Long may his wild rumpus continue in the imaginations of little and big children everywhere.

Such an amazing life! Such strange and wonderful work he did... If you ever find yourself in Philadelphia, make your way to the Rosenbach Museum and Library. They are the repository of his work, including the only mural he painted, lifted whole out of an apt. in NYC and re-assembled there!
Thanks for the tip SassyG. I will most definitely find myself there one day, and will seek out that space.
